We went for a hike today... we thought it would be about 6 miles - a nice half day hike
Weston learned an important lesson about jumping onto wet rocks today...
We made it to this beautiful wading area with a lovely moss edge after 6 miles... stopped to cool our feet and have some snacks!

let the record show that this was the only time Reagan didn't walk - and it was because I was afraid she'd get washed down the river so Matt carried her across :)

Yes, that's because with this horribly marked trail, we took a wrong turn and instead of doing a 6 mile loop, we did a 12 mile across the mountain trail, so ended up on the opposite side of the mountain as our car, and had zero cell reception....
What to do?!
Matt hiked back through the mountain to get to the car (we had to trust his mountain man-ness since I couldn't text him to check up on him) and drive around the mountain to get to us
We hung out by the river for a little while
and then hiked two miles to the highway to wait for our ride :)
how do they still have energy?!
there were a couple of lovely farmer's wives who came to check on us and make sure we were ok while we just sat here in their field :)

luckily we had plenty of rations left

I finally had to lock the wild man back up - he was unstoppable!
we made it home :)
luckily, I always keep a trunk full of gatorade and granola bars :)
super long day, but fun in it's own way!
